Upland Journal (“the App”) is designed to help users record and manage their upland hunting activities, including trips, hunts, bird finds, dogs, locations, and related notes. Your privacy is important to us, and this Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Upland Journal stores information that you voluntarily enter into the App, including but not limited to:
- Trips, hunts, bird finds, species, dogs, and hunters
- Dates, notes, and journal entries
- Optional location coordinates associated with hunts or bird finds
This information is created and controlled entirely by you.
Location Information
If you choose to enable location features, the App may collect:
- Your current location (for creating hunts or bird finds)
- Manually selected map locations
Location data is used only to support App functionality and is never sold or used for advertising.
You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
Device and Account Information
Upland Journal does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers
- Advertising identifiers
- Browsing behavior
- Analytics or tracking data
- Payment or financial information
How Your Data Is Stored
On-Device Storage
All data you enter is stored locally on your device using Apple’s system frameworks.
Cloud Sync (Optional)
If you are signed into iCloud and have iCloud enabled:
- Your data may be synced securely using Apple CloudKit
- Syncing allows your data to appear on your other Apple devices
- Apple manages authentication, encryption, and storage
Upland Journal does not operate its own servers and does not have access to your iCloud account credentials.
How We Use Information
Your information is used solely to:
- Provide and operate App features
- Display your journal entries, statistics, and summaries
- Sync your data across your devices (if enabled)
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or marketing.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
Your data may only be disclosed if required by law or to comply with a legal obligation.
Data Retention and Deletion
- All data remains on your device and/or your personal iCloud account
- Deleting the App removes local data from your device
- iCloud data can be managed or deleted through your Apple ID settings
Your Choices
You can:
- Enable or disable location access
- Enable or disable iCloud sync
- Delete your data at any time by removing entries or uninstalling the App
Children’s Privacy
Upland Journal is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
